Covid-19, It's already been 6 months?

Well hey there y’all,

This feels weird. Anyways I thought I’d finally get my act together and try to take care of my long neglected webpage. Most people find ValerieDurhamPhotography through Instagram where I’m a bit more active and actually post photos. Well it’s 2020 and it’s time to reflect and make changes.

Some big changes in the wedding industry are Micro-Weddings!

Micro-Weddings are anywhere from 10-35 people and last as long as 6 hours or as short as 3 hours. Planning for these weddings are a little tricky since there are different restrictions depending on where the wedding is being held. Some people opt out of wearing masks while others play it very safe and keep them on. I honestly feel like there’s no right or wrong way to have these weddings and it’s more of an anything goes attitude but here’s the thing…. you still need to plan it all out.

Here are some tips to help plan a successful Micro-Wedding

  • Envisioning the day. Do you want to spend more time mingling with loved ones and keep it casual or Do you want all the bells and whistles? A Focus on “the married couple” photos or mostly candids and very few posed photos?

  • Creating a timeline is still #1! Plan for hiccups and give yourself “wiggle room”. It is Okay and Normal to have things change even on your wedding day. Timelines should allow plans to be slightly moved around to accommodate for any changes

  • Are you having a Planner / Coordinator / DJ / MC or someone that can move guests around with the flow of the wedding day?

  • If you do have multiple vendors, right now, we all need to be connected via email / text (whatever works best) due to every changing rules, it’s best to have an open line of communication with everyone behind the scenes

  • Your VENUE!!!! if you’re planning a small wedding at an VRBO / AIRBNB you may need event insurance. But whatever you do, don’t forget to ask the Renters first.

  • Hire me! hahaha no really, shoot me an email if you have any questions! Regardless if you decide to hire me as your photographer, I would love to lend a hand or any other “word of wisdom” that I can offer

I should have said this earlier but, I’m not a great writer so if you’ve made it this far….THANK YOU!

Be Safe, Be Kind
